Show me a man who claims to never have bought Ikea and I'll show you a liar. Or someone with a weighty wallet at least. But then, it does make you a little sad to know quite how many other peoples houses your unfeasibly named new toy is in.
A couple of years ago we were all led to believe that Danish brand Ilva was going to save us by doubling the choice in the 'entirely made of pine, utterly ubiquitous furniture' market. Sadly it was not to be, and the news that Ikea were taking over Habitat only made hearts sink further.
Well fear no more, because salvation is here! IkeaHacker is a website dedicated to souping up those laminated pine creations and making one off design classics. Or not so much, in the most case. But its a nice idea, and a small act of rebellion for all those of us who saw ourselves in that thinly disguised Ikea scene from Fight Club, which apparently is only available in indiscriminate Eastern European languages....
