He's summing up beautifully the aesthetics, or more accurately the semiotics, of the 2010 UK General Election, as called today. The deep dark world of colour theory and semiotics has always permeated every type of politics just as it has every other kind of advertising.
However, this year is a different type of election for the UK, with a distinct and seismic shift to an Americanised, personality driven campaign already taking shape. The airbrushing of Cameron, the personal slurs on each leader based on class and temperament are there for all to see. Labours reluctance to call the election until the optimum (or last possible...) moment has also extended the prologue to an extent more akin to the year long joust of an American election rather then the month long duel we are accustomed to.
Should be an interesting blog and, for once, an interesting campaign.
